Development Reports

Development reports are required to identify, assess and value trees and vegetation in accordance with Australian Standards, government policy and legislation and local laws. Whether in feasibility and preliminary stages of development or during construction, we can provide industry specific reports and services for any scale of development.

Preliminary Tree Assessment

Pre-design and construction

The Preliminary Tree Assessment should occur at the beginning of the project before design and construction has begun. This report provides botanical identification, dimensions of trees, an assessment of individual tree condition and retention value in accordance with the recommended actions of Section 2.3.2 of the Australian Standard 4970 - 2009 Protection of trees on development sites. This preliminary tree data and report will help to inform the values of any trees within project scope and any relevant protections or permit requirements.

Arboricultural Impact Assessment

Post -design and during development submission

The Arboricultural Impact Assessment should occur after design drawings have been prepared. The purpose of this report is to demonstrate (usually for a development submission to Responsible Authorities) the ongoing viability of retained trees under the design. This report identifies trees for removal and retention under the scope of the project, assesses impact from the proposed designs and construction methods as well as impact mitigation strategies. These impacts include earthworks, installation of services, hard surfacing installation and more.

Tree Protection Plan

Post-design and development submission

The Tree Protection Plan should occur after the Arboricultural Impact Assessment has identified the potential impacts and mitigation strategies for retained trees. This report provides the specific methods for any tree protection, project arborist involvement and key stages of the project relevant to retained trees. Preparation of this report is often after approval from any relevant governing bodies and before any site earthworks or construction have begun.

Project Arborist Services

During construction

Project Arborist Services for development and construction projects are often required when potentially damaging activities are required in areas identified for protection near trees. Services such as root pruning, supervision of inground service installation, as well as certification of required tree protection measures and project completion are all forms of project arborist services.

An ideal development project workflow should be as follows:

Tree Protection

Plan

Finalisation of tree retentions and removals for the project into the construction phase. All tree protection measures and exclusion zones clearly demonstrated as well as any supervision or key stages outlined in a project timeline.

Project Arborist &

Certification

Implementation of any project arborist supervision or certification required pre-construction, during construction or post-construction. Final certification of tree protections at the end of the project.

Preliminary Tree

Assessment

Initial site inspection and

collection of tree data. Identification of species, condition, retention value, TPZs, SRZs and other relevant information.

Arboricultural Impact

Assessment

Assessment of design and potential impacts to trees within the project scope. Calculations of any TPZ and SRZ encroachments, with assessment of ongoing viability and impact mitigation strategies.
